DualProx® makes the grade
The City of London Academy Islington opened in September 2008 as a centre of excellence, providing high quality educational facilities for 125 students. Located in one of London's central boroughs, the Academy has become a thriving community with an increasing number of individuals using its premises.
The Academy recently investigated alternative methods to expand their access control system, without the expense and disruption of replacing their original system. Nortech’s Dualprox® readers provided the solution. Installed by City Door & Window Maintenance, the readers enabled flexible and economic expansion whilst maintaining complete compatibility with their existing PAC system.
Nortech’s Dualprox® readers accommodate the Academy’s existing PAC key fobs while also allowing them to migrate to a replacement technology in the future. Each reader is connected to a Nortech CRC220 access controller and networked to the control system via TCP/IP. The modular nature of the system permits further readers to be added as required.
Day-to-day system administration is carried out using Nortech’s Norpass2 Access Management application. This allows authorised personnel to update security arrangements and control access to specific areas. Individual cards can be quickly programmed, allocating each cardholder with access rights consistent to their status and responsibilities within the Academy.
